Portrait of Bill Haley 2012 20" x 16" cyanotype on watercolor paper
"Hi, my name is Greg Wilson and I teach a class at RayKo titled Matting and Presentation. I bring thirty years of experience in picture framing to the class. For the last 23 years I have been working at SFMOMA framing exhibits. Photography and picture framing have a strong bond and my wish is to have my students gain more control over what happens after a print is created. We look at different framing styles and discuss the pros and cons. We also become familiar with the mat cutter at RayKo so the students are able to mat their own work.
Portrait of Bing Crosby 2011 14" x 11" gelatin silver print
My first camera was a Nikon FM and a very serious choice. I took classes with Pirkle Jones and Larry Sultan at SFAI. My current camera is a Fuji 3D camera. My current photographic work is photograms. I use the RayKo facilities to make gelatin silver prints and I also make cyanotypes out of the darkroom. I also make paintings, collages, and prints as part of my practice.
Portrait of Tila Tequila 2012 12" x 18" watercolor on paper
The photo book on my list to find is Chris Verene's Camera Club. The last art opening I went to was Adriane Colburn's show at the Luggage Store Gallery. My favorite art show of 2012 was Alice Shaw's exhibit at Gallery 16. If you would like to see more of my art practice visit, www.gregwilsonportfolio.com"
