In this class students will be encouraged to make portraits of people in their environment as well as the landscape around them, to further explore the different meanings of a "portrait". The goal of this workshop is to give photographers a set of tools to create short narratives that speak about the human condition from a personal perspective. There will be lectures on contemporary photographers who document places combining classic portraits and use the landscape as a complement to these portraits. Students will be given photo weekly assignments and each weekend they will make a tight edit in class (with feedback from the instructor and peers) so they can work towards a cohesive presentation of their vision in the printed form.
