This is a 5-week class that delves into applying compositional
techniques to a substantive body of work. The course will teach you how to
address a larger theme from a compositional and editing standpoint. We will
also look at and break down specific bodies of work from other photographers and see how different compositional techniques
play key roles in telling their visual stories. Students will be given weekly
assignments based on a larger, overarching theme, that should result in a
cohesive series of work by the end of the course. Tuition includes a lab pass
to RayKo's computer workstations, the B&W and color group darkrooms, as
well as B&W film processing. The lab pass does not include access to
scanners or printer workstations.
PRE-REQ: Comp & Editing Level 1 and/or a strong technical understanding of basic compositional techniques such as rule of thirds, leading lines, etc.
BRING: A camera (digital or film, regardless of format) and 5-10 samples of your work (prints, digital files via flash drive, or images posted on the web).
INSTRUCTOR: Pete Rosos
DATES: Thurs, 6-9p, Apr 27, May 4, 11, 18, 25
