Description
This 4-week long class is intended to give students a firm understanding of color theory, applications, and personal, cultural and societal associations with color. Color is invisible to us. We see in color, so we take for granted. Great color photography comes from being conscious of your use of color. This class is designed to help all levels of photographers explore color deeply and consciously in their photographs. Topics included in the class are the color wheel; color schemes (monochromatic, analogous, complementary, etc.); warm and cool colors; muted and saturated colors; and symbolic, personal and cultural uses of color. Important historical and contemporary color photographers will be used to inspire students and illustrate the course content. There will be assignments each week for students to explore specific aspects of color in order to focus your vision with respect to the use of color. Students will be exploring color primarily through shooting assignments that will be critiqued with digital projection. Students may also bring in prints for critique. Tuition includes pass to use group color darkroom and digital computer workstations.

PRE-REQ: Knowledge of using your camera manually. Traditional and digital color printing experience are not necessary but may be used in conjunction with this class.

BRING: Cameras and color photographs you are proud of

INCLUDES: Lab pass to Color group darkroom (print size maximum 11"x14"), and digital computer workstations. This class does not include access to scanners or printer workstations
