This two-weekend class will survey a variety of non-traditional techniques that expand artistic possibilities for darkroom photographers. Class will begin with a quick overview of various photographers that approach photography in a unique way, as a primer for your own explorations. Our following classes will take place in the B&W darkroom where we'll print with altered negative and photo paper, create photograms, chemigrams, make Sabattier prints, and explore selective processing. The class will also look at making images without a traditional negative, using alternate negative processes, including cliche-verre. This class is meant to expand your understanding of how the darkroom and silver papers can be used to make images.
REQ: All students with basic film processing and printing skills are welcome to enroll.
